Renegade Cruisers' goal is to promote a free, friendly and supportive community of cruising sailors.
Site Management
The board is managed by the Advisory Council and the Administrators.
About Our Forums
Sailing & Cruising
Post your sailing or cruising stories, projects, or pictures here. Please stay on topic in this area, boating related only.
The Pub
Its a pub, grab your beverage, pull up a stool and discuss. This is the where the fun happens! Off topic humor and camaraderie between friends. Anything that isn't fun, shouldn't be here!
Singles
Sailing solo is fun, but its better with a mate! A forum to aid in finding that mate.
Crew Exchange
Name says it all, find crew for your boat, or a boat to crew on.
Chandlery
A place to buy and sell all things related to boating. Members may post their personal items for sale here. Members with businesses may post their boating related services or products here as long as they are a participating member and not here just to sell their wares.
Party On!
The place to announce and coordinate Renegade gatherings, parties and events. Posts will be moved to The Pub after the event has occurred.
BMYC Club Lounge
The club lounge is an area for members to discuss club business, site design, guidelines or even discuss differences with other members.
Cruising Lifestyle
This area is a members only area for those of us that embrace the cruising lifestyle.
Warning: This forum may contain material that is not safe for work environments.
Member Blogs
Members that would like to document a ongoing voyage or boating project may create their own blog in this section. Blogs are easy to create using the same process as posting to forums (Example blog). If you would like to set up your own blog, just contact one of the administrators.
- Any forum may be blocked so that you see only the forums you prefer. If you would like to block a forum from your account, just let an administrator know.
Guidelines
We have no intention of moderating the Board except under the most extreme circumstances. We do not remove or edit members posts other than spam, T.O.S. violations and double posts. We feel we are a good group of people and fully capable of behaving ourselves and keeping this place fun. We will work hard to avoid rules, but here are the basic guidelines within our community:
* Pictures containing nudity be kept in good taste and limited to the Cruising Lifestyle forum. * Please do not make political posts. * Spammer's accounts will be automatically disabled. * Most of all, be kind to one another.
If you feel a specific post violates our guidelines, you may click on the red exclamation point to the right of the post. A screen will open allowing you to bring this post to the attention of the advisory council.
Adherrance
We prefer the community to guide itself, but the Advisory Council and the Administrators will take disciplinary action if there is persistent disruption on the Board. We believe it's a good system that is fair and makes this a pleasant place for everyone. Members have the opportunity to express themselves, but if a topic causes disruption beyond respectful give-and-take, we ask you to back off for the sake of the community.
Nevertheless, if a specific member is persistently causing trouble, we will issue a warning to that individual via private message. If the behavior continues, the individual will receive a second warning. Any repetition may result in the Advisory Council voting to determine temporary or permanent suspension. Specific instances of violations include flaming, overt personal attacks, cursing or using abusive language toward another member, and political posting. Complaints from members (whether or not they are advisors), are required to prompt a review. (If you have issues you can’t resolve with another member you may contact the Advisory Council)
The AC will only consider posts, PM, emails, and chat session logs from the RC website when a complaint is brought. Anything else will be considered inadmissible. Complaints regarding PMs, emails and chat sessions must be supported by complete texts, screen captures or other means to verify their accuracy.
Progressive Discipline
The typical steps in the disciplinary procedure are listed below. In addition, guidance may be offered by council members via private messages in order to reduce the need for stronger action. There may be multiple instances of each step based on the council's judgment of the members willingness to correct the guideline violations. Official notifications will come from the RCAC member only.
NOTE: It is not our policy to edit or remove posts. The object of this policy is to inform members of our guidelines and correct repeat offenders, not to moderate individual posts.

Warning 2 (Quorum 5)

1 Month Suspension* (Quorum 7)

Determination
The Advisory Council will make their determination based on consensus of available council members. There must be a minimum quorum for the step involved.
Appeal
The Advisory Councils findings may be appealed to the site administrators. The site administrators will not attempt to second guess the Advisory Council's judgment, but will only determine if proper procedure has been followed and that the offense was a valid guideline violation.

Some of the qualities valued in new council members are:

- Consensus
- Consensus is a group decision making process where members of a group are polled on a proposed decision. Members of the group may vote in favor or the decision, stand-by (meaning they are not in 100% agreement but will defer to the majority) or vote to block the decision.
